Pro_two: Water is Life_Poster Competition

The first poster explored the use of typography and used a simple related image to display some relevant information. The 2nd poster design focused on one of the original ideas. The image tries to convey the thought that water is required to create growth and water is inside every living thing. The main image is framed by a water graphic which further illustrates this point.

Final Ideas:

The final poster solutions are agian derived from an original idea. This idea wanted to show the image of an unborn child inside a water drop as if it were a scan image within the womb. The idea is trying to communicate the thought that water creates, nurtures and maintains life and growth. The flowing or wavey typography was taken from previous ideas as it is relevant to the subject of water as is the water splash and the main raindrop image used on the final posters.

Ideas

Creating an image of a baby inside a rain drop will show that water is creating and nurturing the life within. This design will convey the idea that water encourages growth and that it is necessary to maintain life. A scan image could be used inside.

More of a typographical design - aiming to use imagery to highlight the message conveyed by the text.

Again the idea of water being the creator of life. Using grey dullness to illustrate lifelessness and only introducing colour around the water drop.

The idea of a person being connected to a heart monitor and the pulse reading on the screen displaying the main message of "Water is Life". This idea tries to show that water is inside all of us and that everyone relies on it in order to live.

Using the main message within the actual design will hopefully get the message across as well as being visually pleasing. This idea tries to show that water helps create and also lives within every living thing we know. Furthermore the design shows water falling on the tree therefore enabling growth & ultimately that it is required to create the life shown.

Research

Images showing water/rain falling on trees or flower buds could be created or used to show that water is needed for growth or to create life.

The rain falling on the ground or on a seed, then showing a step-by-step sequence of a flower or tree spurting up then continuing to grow could illustrate this.

Showing the vulnerability of a baby, unborn child or scan images in water or in the womb, would illustrate the beginning of life.

Projecting the idea of water creates life or that life relies on water could create a meaningful and memorable poster.

A scan image has a grainy texture that could be made to look like waves or water therefore portraying that an unborn child relies on water for life.

Images inside a rain drop showing prosperity and life flourishing could show that water is required to achieve a helthy and happy life. Everything inside the raindrop could be colourful, healthy and growing and anything outside could be grey, withering and dying.

Typography could be used within the design to get the main "Water is Life" message across.

Water Typography - very important that the text fits the theme of the poster. Utilising typefaces that resemble water or wavey text that could be seen to flow could accomplish this.

24hr one: Egg

My Egg ideas:
What would an egg want: Comfy seat, also functionality somewhere to store his top and the spoon. Then I thought about the egg in its many forms, how can it be cooked? I also thought about what foods are commonly ate along with eggs? What different companions or friends does the egg have - bacon, sausage, egg etc.

The eggs many disguises gave me more ideas like thinking of the egg as an assasin or a spy.

I then did some research on different egg cup design, egg painting, egg recipes, spoon holders, egg timers etc.

My final idea was to create a set of egg recipe flyers that would be used by an egg manufacturing company to promote the sale of their eggs. A kind of collect one each week when you buy your eggs campaign. The flyers contained simple instructions on the different ways to cook an egg.

Pro_one: Paramedic Assist

For my final design I decided to go for a two-part poster campaign. The 1st poster was a typographical poster containing 3 clear, bold and memorable steps to the CPR process. This poster combated any similar poster currently out there as it was straight to the p0oint and didn't distract you with any medical jargon or unnecessary images.

My 2nd poster tried to fill a gap in the market by being an image only poster. It conveyed the same three text steps (seen in the typographical poster) as images. Its main aim was to help none English speaking members of the population understand what to do if someone needed CPR.

If the idea was to be taken forward and actually developed then there would be an opportunity to commission photography for the three steps so as to clearly illustrate the brief in the final images.

The posters would run alongside each other and could be used in a home or business environment and the 3 C's of CPR could even be the focal point of a larger advertising campaign. For example including large billboards, bus backs, t.v ads etc.
